What a humbling little quote. One thing I love that we do as a family is pray before dinner together every night. Sometimes even at restaurants..yes, we are those people:) The kids melt my heart when they bow their little heads and fold their tiny hands. Sawyer usually mumbles things like "mommy, daddy" but Claire is actually learning how to pray for what we, as a family, are thankful for. Things at the top of the list each night are daddy's job, our house, mommy's hard work, our food, to make new friends and then we bless everyone including Grandma, Grandma, and Nana...and most times my in laws puppy "Mac" gets thrown in there too. I pray a lot as I drive around aimlessly with the kids alseep in the car having their naps (because I am like in the .01 percent of moms whose kids will not transfer asleep from the car to a bed...hasn't happened once!) It's easy to get blown away here in CO...driving in the blinding sun every day surrounded by majestic snow capped mountains. I'm just dumbfounded how you can see these things and not believe in God. Not a "higher power" but GOD. The only God.
We went to our local rec center today...every town or community here has these and I think they couldn't be more fabulous. You pay a small fee, very small and you have access for the day to workout facilities, a lap pool, aerobics classes, kids classes, and a literal indoor water park with tube slides and a lazy river...say what? It's true! The kids wore themselves out and are now napping.....silence. I love all of the "family" amenities our town has. Everything here seems to be so family focused...perhaps that's why our town was rated #1 place to raise a family?
A short ditty about our new home...who's visiting us first??
Castle Rock, Colorado. Nearby city: Denver. Population: 42,241. Median Income: $78,403. Like many newer communities it is seeing dramatic change in just a few years. Nestled where the high plains meet the Rocky Mountain foothills Castle Rock offers a life like no other. Castle Rock, Colorado – where the small town character is combined with big city amenities. Castle Rock is the capital of Douglas County. Douglas County has been nationally recognized as a great place to live, to work and to raise a family. In a May 2004 study, by the American City Business Journals (ACBJ), Douglas County ranked fourth in the nation for Quality of Life. “People around here take care of one another,” one resident said. The town spent $2 million this year to buy land with a 6,785-foot butte; the reward for making the 20-minute hike is an awesome view.
